When I first published Kiss of Fire it was on a bet. I never assumed it to do as well as it did. I wrote book two fast, but then I realized I had a problem. To tell the story I wanted to tell I would need different perspectives than what I had started with (Single POV from Joclyn). So, when I wrote book three it was from two new perspectives, and some of the story overlapped what happened in the second book. I wrote the fourth book only from Joclyn’s perspective, but I still had the same problem. I needed more POV’s to tell the story.
Because of this what ended up happening is a lot of overlap in timeline, at times even the same scene being in two books from two different perspectives. It created problems.
Hey, it was my first series – give me a break! 😉 To this day it does not have the ending I originally intended for it.
So, I am working to fix the issues with the POV and overlap by interlacing the books that overlap and adding extra perspective to early books like Kiss of Fire so that when the other POVs pop in they aren’t so jarring.
To do this, I am in the middle of editing and writing the ‘IMDALIND RUBY COLLECTION’ which takes all of the books, interlaces them into a unified timeline, cuts the redundant scenes, and adds more POV’s for a better story overall.
Because the series is so darn long, I had to spread this collection into 3 volumes. Volume One has Kiss of Fire, Eyes of Ember, and Scorched Treachery. This volume has 80k works of new content. 80K!! That’s practically a whole book!
Volume Two has Soul of Flame, Burnt Devotion, Brand of Betrayal, and Dawn of Ash. Vol. 2 has about 50k of new content, and all the overlap in Burnt Devotion has been cut. The book reads seamlessly. It’s beautiful. Volume Three has Crown of Cinders, Spark of Vengeance, Flare of Villainy, and Final Inferno. (More on those books that you may or may not have heard of in a second.)
Because the last three books have not come out, yet. Volume Three will not be out until next March. There will also be a Volume Four that will include all of the Academy books. (All of which are up on pre-order BTW)
As I am still working on the edits and clean up, not everything has been updated yet. For example, I need to do some scrubbing on the repetition in Crown of Cinders still, and once that is done I will upload the new version to Amazon and shoot out a message that you can update your copy. At the rate I am going, that will be done mid April.
Can I just say, though, that going through these books: No one, and I mean no one should write when you are emotionally drained. Burnt, Dawn, and Crown suffered something fierce… and I really can’t thank everyone who was understanding and gave them a shot enough kudos.
I am excited to update them and give you the books you deserved.
Speaking of ‘The last three books not being out yet’, I am FINALLY extending the series to give it the ending I initially saw for it. The book ‘Ilyan’ and ‘A Spark of Vengeance’ (from The King of Imdalind Series) have been removed from sale, and will be re-released this summer as just ‘Spark of Vengeance’. In the same vein as the rest of the series, now POV’s will be added, and the books will intermingle for a good storytelling experience.
So, in essence ALL THE BOOKS for the next year are up for preorder. Imdalind is finally getting its ending and its face lift. Both Imdalind and Imdalind Academy are getting their ending AND…
