So it’s been a few months since I posted my big ‘What I am up to this year’ post and I figure it’s time for a little update. A scary…. Scary update…
Well maybe not that scary… but I guess that all depends on how you look at it. I choose to look at it like this:
So, when I posted my schedule early this year I was a go getter – excited and ready to break out some moves.
And, while I am still all gung-ho and ready to rock, don’t you know it – life got in the way as it does and between moving, and health emergencies and scary hospital stays I got a bit behind schedule.
Now, now, don’t freak out. So far release dates haven’t been affected… well, much.
But before we get into this too much lets go over the GIGANTIC list that I posted before:
The Possible Schedule
Through Glass novella’s will begin around March 10th and release every other week until Halloween. (That’s about 15 novellas eeeek!) – Obviously I haven’t made this one. I am currently still working on #7. I had thought I would have been done by now, but I had to make some changes to plot that impacted my schedule… as well as what I am going to talk about next…
Of River and Raynn will release The Catalyst in late April, The Sypher in early August, and The Requisite by the end of the year. – Of River and Raynn… is actually only a little bit off schedule all things considered. The biggest problem with Of River and Raynn – The Catalyst is that the size of the book took me by surprise. You see, the longest book I have written to date is Soul of Flame at 118,000 words, and I fully expected Of River and Raynn to be about the same word count. River and Raynn… of River and Raynn… The first book in the series is currently standing at 141,000 at the completion of the rough draft. I still have more to define and clear up, meaning that I will probably add another 15,000 to the final total.
This is why Through Glass is now behind. You see, to make my editing deadline for Of River and Raynn I had to stop work on Through Glass in order to get the book ready in time.
I didn’t want to. But editing deadlines are the editing deadlines I can’t miss. I schedule my editing out months in advance so if I miss a deadline it pushes back everything out and sadly, I already missed a deadline for Of River and Raynn in February, so I couldn’t miss my second one.
So, Of River and Raynn is mostly done and will ‘begin’ on May 27th. Yes…. I know the word ‘begin’ is a little confusing. But I have a little magic up my sleeve for this book – which is another reason I had such a tight deadline to fix it. And no, I am not going to divulge this little nugget yet, but trust me when I say it is going to be amazing.
With The Imdalind Series – Soul of Flame releases on February 17th – and I am hoping to have Dawn of Ash out by the end of July (breathe people – it could be two years 😉 ) That should end the series as long as Ilyan behaves. – Do not fret – I am actually still on schedule for this to be done on time. As soon as I get the next draft of River and Raynn off to my beta’s I will be bustin’ out the last of this set of Through Glass like nobodies business. Then I finally get to go back into Imdalind.
Except there is a problem
I get asked the question at least fifty times a week about when Dawn of Ash is coming out – and my answer will always be the same. Mid to late 2014. And YES I still on track to make that.
I also get asked and pestered a bit as to why I didn’t just finish the series… of the classic statement disguised as a question of ‘I wish you wouldn’t waste your time on other book and just focus on Imdalind.’ And yes, part of me wishes I had, but the more passionate and emotional side of me knows why I didn’t. You see, every time I sat down to write I couldn’t. I couldn’t because the story is almost over, because the end of this amazing journey is almost complete. And I couldn’t because my characters were not speaking to me.
In fact, they were silent.
I am also playing with the idea of releasing Hit around the beginning of May and a new YA/NA Paranormal that has a working title of Grave Diggers around Thanksgiving. – Obviously I haven’t made this one.
That’s Seven Books and Fifteen Novella’s
