Why I won’t be ‘casting’ Kiss of Fire - Rebecca Ethington

As part of the upcoming blog tour for Kiss of Fire I was asked to do character highlights on five characters. These included small facts about them, a quote, and who would play them in a movie.

Everything was going great, Ilyan: 6’3″, Joclyn: Silver eyes, and then I got stuck. Who would play all these great characters in a movie? I have no idea.

Really.

I have no clue.

You see when I write I write like when I write a script. I create usable characters that are full of real emotion that can easily be portrayed by an actor. I don’t have any specific actors in mind. None.

Okay well that’s a little bit of a lie.

Sometimes, in my head, I see people I have performed with in the past, or even specific characters that those people have played. But more often or not, I take little bits of people and characters and performances and mesh them all up into the perfect person. Because of this I don’t have actors in mind, or I have actors in mind that don’t especially look like the character.

Which means that they don’t really work as far as a blog tour goes.

I spent about three hours on IMDB and this is as far as I got

Joclyn – Rachel Hurd-Wood

(Who in this picture strangely has the right shade of eyes)

Wyn – Chloe Grace Moretz

Ovailia – Jocelyn Ott

Cail – Jim Sturgess

And that’s it. Ryland and Ilyan. Nope couldn’t find them. I tried, and even with all my trying, the people above were really stretching it. And a lot of them relied heavily on the influence of friends and family.

So for now, I am going to leave the casting to your imagination. Let the characters sing in your mind, and enjoy the ride!
